Sweet as Honey

Don't you just love the color of honey? It's so warm and inviting and sweet and so I just had to put together a post dedicated to the color of honey. Enjoy these beautiful and stylish honey-colored pieces:

T Tahari Cleo Dress, Nordstrom, $128

Bixby Bag, Kate Spade, $346

Cowl Chiffon Dress, Dorothy Perkins,  £45.00

Just Fabulous Elise Pump, Heels.com, $59.99

Honey is a perfect color to transition from summer to fall- it is still bright enough to work with a lot of true summer colors like sky blue or white, but it has the depth necessary to be paired with rich, fall colors like pumpkin and amber. Try to work something honey-colored into your outfit this weekend and you'll see what I mean!

Shoesday Tuesday- Amour

Maybe it's my obsession with two-tone oxfords and spectators that has me swooning over these shoes, but there is just something about them that is drawing me in:

They are also available in a black and white combination, but I prefer the beige- it's a more modern mix. The studs on the toe are just icing on the cake.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I saw these shoes in my Shoe Dazzle Showroom. This month. I threatened to drop both Shoe Dazzle and Just Fabulous a few months ago. Rather than drop them from my life, I just stopped dedicated posts on my blog to them. The truth is that I never dropped them because they send me emails full of pretty shoes! Yes, it got tiresome blogging about them, so that's why I stopped that. But shoes sent straight to my inbox? How could I ever say "no" to that? Don't judge me.

Please tell me what you think of these shoes- leave a comment or tweet with our special hashtag #ShoesdayTuesday- I can't wait to see what you have to say!

Shoesday Tuesday- The Showroom Showdown

Can I get some props for the fabulous alliteration in that title? I mean, come on, folks- that is some decent work if I do say so myself. And I thought writing titles for these blog posts was my WEAKNESS. I should have known better.

Anyway, as you know, I'm a member of the two rival online shoe "stylist" companies- Shoe Dazzle and Just Fabulous. It occurred to me the other day that I had neglected to show you my February Showroom selections from each company, but lucky for me, there was a Tuesday remaining in the month. Hence, the title of this post. But I digress. So without further ado, I present Just Fabulous February Showroom:

My first reaction? "Meh." I am underwhelmed. Or am I? Could it be that I've seen so many shoes and have so many shoes and am constantly on the look-out for new and exciting shoes that I've just OD'd a bit on shoes? Because upon closer inspection, there are some lovely choices up there. After all, Ynez is pretty rockin' and you should see her in red! Pascale is an awesome shade of purple and that ruffle detail is pretty awesome. And I'm kind of in love with Darcy- she's available in some neutral options, too, but the red is kind of fierce, actually. So, after calmly progressing from underwhelmed to vaguely interested, I decided to check out Shoe Dazzle's February Showroom:

Ok, now I'm overwhelmed. Especially with the four ADDITIONAL shoes in my showroom that are currently "Sold Out" and therefore I can't get a good picture to show you. (And don't think I didn't notice they have the exact same shoe in there, but in a different color option. You're not fooling anyone, Shoe Dazzle! I'm on to you!) But seriously, what happened to the unique personalization of my shoe selections? Lately is seems as though Shoe Dazzle is getting less and less personal and more and more interested in just shoving as many shoes in my direction as my inbox will take.

Which brings me to another point: BOTH of these companies bombarded my email account with Valentine's Day specials to the point where I stopped reading the emails and simply clicked "delete" as soon as one arrived in my inbox. And while their special Valentine's shoes were cute, they were mostly red and we all know I have plenty of red shoes in my life. Plenty. So, in conclusion, I have to say, I might be canceling my accounts with both companies. Mostly the emails just annoy me and I have yet to be so in love with a shoe that I simply HAD to buy it. I think I gave it a decent run, though. Sorry, Kim Kardashian, it looks like your fancy shoe company just might not be for me. And for whomever owns Just Fabulous, congrats on a better execution of the same idea as KK's Shoe Dazzle, but in the end, I just don't think our relationship is working out. It's not you. It's me. Oh, wait, no- it IS you.

Like shoes as much as (or more than) me? Then tweet about it with my hashtag #ShoesdayTuesday and let's get talking!

Shoesday Tuesday: Shoe Dazzle VS. Just Fabulous

A new year has dawned and I STILL have not purchased a single pair of shoes from either "personal stylist" shoe services- Shoe Dazzle and Just Fabulous. I've been signed up with Shoe Dazzle for a lot longer than Just Fabulous, but as far as I can tell, they are nearly identical services. So why not pit them against each other? I will show you the shoes in each of my "showrooms" and we will decide which ones are better!

First up, Shoe Dazzle:

Other than "Kylie," I love them all. LOVE. THEM. ALL. "Lalit" is available in a black version, which I definitely prefer. "York" is remarkably similar to the Kelsi Dagger boot that seems to want to haunt my life. And haunt it FOREVER.

And now for Just Fabulous:

I'm 50/50 on this selection- I really love "Alice," "Kelly" and "Morgan," but I'm not a huge fan of "Joan," "Dakota" or "Casey." However, I really love "Alice" nearly enough to actually buy it. And since it is available in the nude color show as well as black and grey, it almost makes me want to buy all three colors. So while more shoes in the Shoe Dazzle showroom caught my eye, the one I'm actually most likely to purchase is from Just Fabulous.

My life is so hard.

Shoesday Tuesday- Lots o' shoes!

The start of the month always means new selections in my Shoe Dazzle Showroom, but now that I've joined Just Fabulous, it means even more shoes for me to check out! First up, my Shoe Dazzle Shoes:

I really like "Gracia" and "Natiri" but the rest aren't that appealing to me. Next up, Just Fabulous' selections for me:

"Lily" reminds me of a pair of shoes I already own, my taupe-suede cut-out heels that I got over the summer. I also really like "Felicia," but I don't have much need for high heels these days. If you remember my post from the end of December about shopping with Beth, you may recall I bought a pair of teal faux-suede heels that are simply gorgeous. I finally managed to snap a picture for you:

So pretty! And they look even better on than they do on their own. Trust me that they are a brighter teal in life than they are in the photo, too. What do you think of my Shoe Dazzle and Just Fabulous showroom selections? And what do you think of my teal heels? Leave a comment!
And don't forget that since it's Shoesday Tuesday, I'll be looking for your shoe-related tweets with the hashtag #ShoesdayTuesday. Tweet as many times as you like!

UPDATE: Just Fabulous Shoesday Tuesday

UPDATE:

Just Fabulous is pretty fast. Within hours of registering and completing their fashion personality quiz, there was a "boutique" ready for me. And here's a look at what is in it:

First, the shoes:

I am a fan of just about all of these. "Daphne" has an open-weave lace-up back which I do not like AT ALL. Other than that, I think they're all pretty fabulous shoes. "Polly" is very similar to the Kelsi Dagger boot that I obsessed over last year. And obsessed. And obsessed. And obsessed. I never actually bought the Kelsi Dagger shoes. Maybe I should scour the internet and see if I can find them at a heavily discounted rate. If I can't find them, I might go for the "Polly." Too bad it's only available in grey and black. One of the things I love so much about the Kelsi Dagger booties is the rich aubergine color. Other than the color, "Polly" possesses many of the same qualities that make the Kelsi Dagger boot so great- the platform helps ease the heel height, the flower embellishment makes them more of a special, unique shoe, and the "v" in the front at the ankle makes them very flattering. They certainly are tempting, but if I can find the Kelsi Dagger ones at a bargain price, I'd rather have them. As for the rest of the shoes in my "Boutique," "Alicia," "Bronwyn" and "Daphne" all get high marks. I'd consider purchasing any of them. Daphne appears to come in a nude version as well as a rich tan. Unfortunately, at this time, black is the only option. You all know how I feel about a nude shoe and a nude peep-toe platform shoe is about as good as it gets.

And now for the bags:

Ok, friends, I'm going to need "Bliss," "Halo" and "Joy" under my tree this Christmas. Start saving your pennies and get on it.

For a true side-by-side comparison, let me show you (again) the selections that were in my November showroom from Shoe Dazzle.

Between the two services, there doesn't seem to be any great difference so far. I prefer Just Fabulous right now because of the added features like the "Haute List," and the "video" and "celebrity" tabs. Although, Shoe Dazzle has an essential feature with the photos and stats of their bags- they show a picture of the interior and list the number and types of pockets in the extended description. Also, with shoes, Shoe Dazzle is careful to tell you about the fit- whether it fits true to size, or runs small or large. These are important features when shopping online, features that, in my opinion, are more important than a brief video showing the shoes in action.

Any thoughts or feedback is welcome. I'm likely going to ask for another set of shoes- I might as well put them through the paces just like I did with Shoe Dazzle. It's only fair.

Shoesday Tuesday- Just Fab

I received a comment from Tiara Joy on my most recent Shoe Dazzle post. She recommended I try Just Fabulous, which is another site with a similar concept to Shoe Dazzle. After an initial "fashion personality quiz," their stylists will select shoes for me to purchase. The price is the same as Shoe Dazzle- $39.95- and also like S.D., shipping is included in the cost. They offer handbags as well as shoes, but so far I have not seen any jewelry. (But if you read my blog, you know I'm not impressed with S.D.'s jewelry selections.) One thing I already like better about Just Fabulous is a section called "The Haute List." The "Haute List" is the top three picks of bags and shoes from their stylists.

Currently in their "Haute List" are these adorable boots:
"Trisha"

And this fabulous bag:
"Enthrall"

One of my issues with Shoe Dazzle has been that their items don't "wow" me enough. Maybe I'm just a tough customer, but I've felt like there isn't enough variety, so I often feel like I'm seeing the same shoe selections over and over- not the exact same, but just variations of each other. I also often feel like while the shoes are nice, they're just not "me." I hope that Just Fabulous has a selection that is more in line with my personal style. Time will tell. Tiara Joy recommended this site versus Shoe Dazzle because she felt the shoes were more in line with her personal style, so I hope the same proves true for me. Since it's the exact same concept and the exact same price, I feel this could be a great comparison experience.

I've already noticed a few things about Just Fabulous that I like. For example, when you view an item, there is not only a brief description of the shoe with a few pictures from various angles, but there are also two interesting tabs with even more fun information. The first is the "Celebrity" tab which shows- you guessed it- a celebrity wearing a similar style shoe or carrying a similar bag. For example, take a look at this bag (also in the "Haute List"):
"Dream"

If you click on the "celebrity" tab, you'll see these pictures of Whitney Port and Jessica Szohr, respectively:

While neither celebrity is carrying the actual bag, these photos offer evidence of current trends as well as possible looks that will work with this particular accessory. Another feature I enjoy is the "Video" tab on the shoe pages. It's exactly what you might think- a video of the shoes being walked in. Personally, this helps me understand the proportion of the shoe as well as get an idea of how comfortable the shoes might be if I purchase them. In any case, it's an additional feature that I appreciate.

But while we're on the subject, I may as well show you the Shoe Dazzle "Alternate Styles" for the month of November:

I asked for neutrals and colors in flats in mid-heels. I suppose they gave me what I asked for, but I'm a tad underwhelmed (again). The two flat options are fine- I definitely prefer "Aurora," and the heels are far from "mid" height, if you ask me. I think that "Hazel" is a gorgeous shoe- perfect for a holiday party or date night, but I also told them I was looking for shoes to wear to work. "Hazel" is definitely more of a festive "party" shoe. Do you think I'm being too hard on Shoe Dazzle? After several months as a member, but not ever purchasing a single pair, do you think they're sick of selecting shoes for me? Or do they think of that as par for the course with this type of business? I suppose I'll never know. What I will know (soon, anyway), is whether or not I prefer Just Fabulous to Shoe Dazzle or the other way around. You'll be sure to read about it here, so check back frequently!

Also, don't forget to participate in my weekly #ShoesdayTuesday Twitter posting game. Right now, it's pretty simple- post anything you like about shoes in a tweet along with the hashtag #ShoesdayTuesday. If you don't post the hashtag, I'll never see your tweet. You don't have to follow me in order to participate. Some of you may want to post a picture of your favorite shoes. Others might want to share a link to a great shoe sale or website. There are no rules except that the tweet be about shoes and that you include the hashtag. Simple, right? I'll post a round-up of my favorite tweets, so get to twittering or tweeting or whatever the kids are calling it these days! Happy Shoesday Tuesday!
