It's Spring! Wear Some COLOR!!!

Whether temperatures agree or not, SPRING IS HERE! I'm determined to believe that, anyway. So, what better way to feel like the season, than by adding some color to your wardrobe? I've done plenty of posts encouraging you to wear head-to-toe color, but this time my aim is to incorporate it in small pops. That's basically Step 1 of incorporating bold color into your wardrobe and a great way to ease yourself into the idea.

I've done a little online shopping to help you find some fabulous pieces that, when added to an otherwise simple, neutral outfit can really add some pizzazz to your look. Try adding JUST ONE of these pieces to an outfit this week. You'll thank me!

Bold Gem Necklace, Banana Republic, $59.50
I love a bold, statement necklace, especially when it's in a fun color like this lemon yellow.

Mint Rose Studs, Bauble Bar, $22
Not every splash of color needs to be huge- these simple mint studs add an unexpected hue to your outfit. Small in size doesn't always equal small impact.

Linen Scarf, J. Crew, $49.50
I'm obsessed with this shade of blue- it's so rich and it really does flatter every skin tone.

What's better than a fuchsia wedge? Not much, lemme tell ya.

For the beginner, try just one of these fun pieces. For the intermediate, try to find two colorful pieces that work together and for the advanced, try to put three boldly colored accessories on today. Just give it a whirl- pops of color can make an otherwise dull, uninspired outfit come to life!

Accessories Anonymous: Statement Studs

It used to be that to wear a large earring, you had to pick a chandelier, or some type of drop earring. These days, there is an abundance of amazing statement stud earrings and I just can't get enough! I'm in love with every single one of these. In fact, if any of you lovely readers out there want to express your gratitude for my ongoing commitment to quality style blogging with a small gift, may I suggest something below? Of course I'm kidding. I'm not giving any of you crazy stalkers my address! As if!

Anyway, back to the fashion. These are all amazing:

The color combination is perfect for spring! Love!

Never Too Jaded Earrings, Modcloth, $12.99
Mad Men, anyone? I can so see these on Betty Draper.

Cobalt Talon Studs, Bauble Bar, $24
These remind me of something Phylicia Rashad might have worn in her Claire Huxtable days.

Mixed Gemstone Studs, ASOS, $25.43

Stone Bouquet Studs, ASOS, $20.35
(Exactly the same as the first pair, but in a different color. So glamorous!)

So, whether you're more inclined to wear dainty studs or bold chandeliers, why not give the statement stud a try? It might be a fun departure for you- you never know!

Accessories Anonymous: What I'm NOT Buying

In this economy, we often find ourselves counting our pennies and making sacrifices here and there to keep our budgets balanced, or just to make ends meet. If we find ourselves with a bit of a windfall, it's easy to run right out and spend it on something we've been coveting. But as much as I'd love to have new duds constantly streaming into my closet, I know that's unrealistic. It's those times that I decide to window shop either in person or on the interwebs. It's the most fun to do online because you don't even have to use any gas or bother putting on make-up.

So, in the spirit of not spending, here are the awesome accessories that I will not be buying anytime soon:

What About Bauble? Necklace, Modcloth, $21.99

I love this necklace. I love the color, I love how it's ENORMOUS and I love its price. Juhree and Sadie both have this exact same necklace in other colors, but this peachy mauve is practically irresistible to me. I will, however, resist.

White Bloom Studs, Bauble Bar, $24

I love these earrings for the opposite reasons I love that necklace. They are dainty and cute and a little understated. They would work with just about anything from jeans and a cute top to a cocktail dress, they'd be great at work, on a date or out with the girls. Also, they remind me of the giant flower on Carrie Bradshaw's white dress.

Foliroli, Aldo Shoes, $40

You all know how much I love a cute brogue, but when it's also in a luxurious peach suede that's just oh-so feminine, I start to drool uncontrollably. I just stuffed a hunk of bread in my mouth to sop up the saliva. Sorry if that was an over-share.

O.M.G. I have no words for this bag. That's not true. I have loads of words for it: precious, feminine, lush, delicious, soft, gorgeous, supple, flawless and swoon-worthy to name a few. Too bad my birthday has passed already this year.

I know this post is focused on accessories, but I can actually picture all of the items above working so harmoniously with this adorable dress from Modcloth:

In Sage You Will Dress, Modcloth, $74.99

Don't believe me? Look at them all together and you will:

What I'm NOT Buying

So there you have it: an adorable outfit complete with amazing accessories that I will most definitely NOT be purchasing anytime soon. That, my friends, is self restraint.

Too Cool for School

Do you guys know about Bauble Bar? I discovered this little gem (pun intended) about a year ago. Sadie had a groupon-esque deal- for $50, get $100 worth of jewelry. That was the beginning of my love affair with Bauble Bar.

When my jewelry arrived a few days later, I was hooked. A year later, one of my favorite sites to peruse is still Bauble Bar. What I love about this site is that there is a range of styles and prices. There's everything from $25 simple necklaces to $250 rings and everything in between. Also, no matter what your personal style, there's something there for you. I like browsing through the designs and thinking about who I know who would wear each stand-out piece.

There's a necklace I've seen on there for a while now, and I absolutely love it for its uniqueness. I would probably never wear it- it's just too cool for my soft, feminine vibe. But never say never, right? The day may come when I decide to rock this:

Bauble Cascade, Bauble Bar, $36

It comes in other colors, but I prefer the rose gold- it softens the design a little and makes it more feminine and a little less edgy. At this point, I'm still really happy with all of my accessories and I feel no need to be buying anything new, but maybe if that urge to spend comes back soon and this little guy is still available, I just might take a chance.

In the meantime, check out Bauble Bar yourself. No, they didn't pay me to write this post endorsing their site. In fact, they likely have no idea my blog even exists. So you can trust I'm being completely honest. Think of it like Oprah's "Favorite Things," without the fame or paid endorsement.
