More Confessing...

Yesterday I came clean and admitted that I never actually deleted my Shoe Dazzle and Just Fabulous accounts. I had to confess to all of you because I couldn't go on living a lie. This is partly because of the shoes I get to see every month, but it is also because of the bags. Like this one:

Honestly, can you give me a reason why I should NOT own this bag? You can't think of one, can you? I can't either. This is a difficult life I lead, I know. That's why I had to come clean- it's too hard to drool over bags like this all on my own. I need a support group.

Shoesday Tuesday- Amour

Maybe it's my obsession with two-tone oxfords and spectators that has me swooning over these shoes, but there is just something about them that is drawing me in:

They are also available in a black and white combination, but I prefer the beige- it's a more modern mix. The studs on the toe are just icing on the cake. 

FULL DISCLOSURE: I saw these shoes in my Shoe Dazzle Showroom. This month. I threatened to drop both Shoe Dazzle and Just Fabulous a few months ago. Rather than drop them from my life, I just stopped dedicated posts on my blog to them. The truth is that I never dropped them because they send me emails full of pretty shoes! Yes, it got tiresome blogging about them, so that's why I stopped that. But shoes sent straight to my inbox? How could I ever say "no" to that? Don't judge me.

Project Runway Season 9 Episode 1

Every Thursday night, I work until 8:00, then the girls and I always head out to Margarita's for some dinner. Add my 45 minute commute and by the time I get home, the last thing I'm going to do is watch 90 minutes of TV. That means it's not likely I'm going to have timely re-caps for this season of Project Runway. Since I can't promise my traditional format, I'm just going to write what comes to mind when I have the time to do it and hope you enjoy it!

This season's opening episode was really exciting- I enjoyed seeing the final selection process and I admit, I was happy with the designers they eliminated right off the bat. The remaining 16 designers seem to be a talented and skilled group with some personality, but design ability that will justify their being on the show. I hate when it seems like the judges have only kept someone for ratings instead of for design.

As for the results of the show, I'm livid with the judges for not eliminating Julie. Yes, Rafael and Joshua had horrendous designs, too, but Julie's didn't have a single redeeming element to it! It made me cringe when I saw it. My jaw dropped and I couldn't believe she sent it down the runway. I suppose she must have made it very clear to the judges that she did a terrible job. They probably chose to keep her because she knew her design was awful, whereas the other two seemed to stand behind their horrific looks.

I'm thrilled for Bert- I hope he remains a strong competitor throughout the show. His design was flawless!  And although Michael Kors didn't like the styling, I thought it was actually kind of cool- the aviators, the tousled hair- it seemed kind of effortless and chic.

 The other look I wanted to see in the top was Viktor's. His is a dress I would wear every day. I love it! The tailoring was impeccable, and the black details made it incredibly flattering and funky. It's a lot safer than Bert's look, which is the only reason I wouldn't say he should have won. 

I think that will be my thread when writing these PR posts- I'll try to pick one look each week that is my "I want to wear that" look. This week, Viktor is the winner:

Sneak Peek of the Next Renee Terese Original

Over the weekend, I had a fitting with a friend who has asked me to make her a dress. It went really well- her measurements were spot on and the dress fit almost perfectly. I am so excited to finish it up and get it to her, but there are a lot of little details to complete. I won't show you a photo of the whole dress until after I've given it to her, but I thought you might enjoy a little sneak peek!

The photo is not doing the color of this dress justice. It is so much better in person, but you'll have to take my word for it. I really enjoy sewing, but I especially enjoy when I can make something for someone else and give them not only a unique garment, but a unique experience.

I Have Good Reasons for Being a Blog Slacker...

You may have noticed a definite lack of regular posting this month. I want to explain myself, so you know I'm not just being a slacker. I had a LOT of important things to do this month, aside from managing the alterations department for one of the best bridal shops in the country smack in the middle of wedding season. I swear, I have SO much to share with all of you about working in this industry, but you will just have to wait until I have the time and energy to do it all justice.

Other than working, I have also been trying to enjoy my summer. So instead of fashion advice, today I'm going to share some pictures of me and my new friends and co-workers having a BLAST. Enjoy!

Batman, the Ride. It's awesome. 

Bizarro- the BEST roller coaster ever. 

Six Flags New England is a fun theme park, but it was even more fun for Juhree and I because we upgraded our day and purchased the "Flash Pass." The pass allowed us to go straight to the front of every line. It was amazing. Of course, it was a smidge awkward when we'd get to the front and they would literally stop the line, let us on the ride and then continue. We got some nasty looks, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. By the time we stopped for lunch, we had ridden EVERY roller coaster in the park. After lunch, we went back to Bizarro two more times and rode in the very front of the first car each time. It was AMAZING! If you've ever been to an amusement park at peak season, you know the lines get really long. Even though we were there mid-week, the lines were still pretty bad. Each ride we went on had a wait that was over an hour. Fortunately, with our "Flash Pass," We never waited more than 5 minutes and most times we didn't wait at all. I'll never go to a theme park unless I can upgrade to some type of "cut-to-the-front-of-the-line" pass. They are worth every penny. 

As if Six Flags wasn't enough fun, Sadie, Juhree and I all went to see Harry Potter again tonight. It was crowded enough in the theatre that you might have thought it was opening night. We were lucky to get seats in the center back- I was nervous for a minute we might have to sit in the front row. It all worked out, though. And afterwards, we had a lot of fun taking photos with the characters' posters: 

Sadie said, "You can be Harry since you have glasses." Clearly, I'm psyched.

Sadie then said Juhree could be Hermione. I think she's got the part down. 

Of course, that left Ron for Sadie, which she wasn't too thrilled about. Hey, at least she wasn't Grawp. 

So, there you have it- not a lot of fashion, but lots of fun. And now it's nearly August. I'll try to be better about posting next month. I promise! 

I'm At Six Flags Today!

Today my awesome co-worker Juhree and I are spending the day at Six Flags New England. We recently discovered that we are both obsessed with roller coasters, so we purchased a couple of tickets, and even upgraded to "The Flash Pass" which propels us to the front of all the lines. We will likely be tired and sunburned tomorrow, but it will all have been worth it.

Even though we are there for the primary purpose of having a blast riding roller coasters, we don't want to look completely terrible. Fanny packs and goofy hats will not be part of our outfits. Cute shorts, tank tops and comfortable shoes will be the theme for this day.

For the perfect amusement park outfit, it's best to start with a pair of great shorts:

Denim Matelot Shorts, Forever 21, $15.80

Add a nice tank top or t-shirt in a light weight fabric and a color that's not too dark:

Pintucked Tank, Gap, $20

Select a pair of comfortable shoes. This is one case where I would choose comfort over style. However, if you can have both, go for it!

Chuck Taylor All Stars, Converse, $46

Cargo shorts are another great idea because the pockets are ideal for carrying your cash around with you. Otherwise, you may have to opt to carry a bag, in which case, a mini-backpack is the best option. Always go jewelry-free, with the exception of a watch. Earrings are a nightmare at a theme park, as are necklaces and rings. Finally, don't forget the sunscreen and remember to have fun! 

Shoesday Tuesday- My Favorite Color Combo

I love that Shoesday Tuesday has become so much more interactive. Whether it's an interesting tweet or a tip on where to find an amazing shoe, I really enjoy seeing what all of you have to share.

For example, last week my friend Amy sent me these photos of gorgeous shoes in one of my favorite color combinations- grey and yellow. Aren't they amazing?

I don't think I will ever get tired of that color combination, but even in a neutral, those shoes would make me drool. If only...
