Pencil skirts with pizazz

When it comes to pure, unadulterated femininity, few garments are as iconic as the figure-hugging pencil skirt. When it comes to pure, unadulterated simplicity, few garments are as definitively perfect as the pencil skirt.

Right now, pencil skirts are hot. Also, they don't seem to be going anywhere. You can find them at every price point, in every department store, in every boutique, in every color of the rainbow. They are at once modern and retro. A good pencil skirt will last years- they are never really out of style. If you don't already have a basic black, grey or navy pencil skirt, I strongly advise you to find one that works for you, buy it and start wearing it.

If you already own a basic pencil skirt and love it, today's post is for you. If you love beautifully made, artistic clothing, today's post is for you. This post is a tribute to the embellished pencil skirt. I like to think of the pencil skirt as a blank canvas and the skirts I'm about to show you have been used as such. The sellers who've made them have created pieces of art. They have not merely tacked some ruffles in place, but instead have used their embellishments to truly enhance the skirt, to make it sing even more than it did as a traditional pencil skirt. Also, all of the samples I've selected for the post are under $100. While $100 may seem like a lot for a skirt, keep in mind that these are handmade, often custom items. (Click the description to be taken to the Etsy shop where each skirt is sold.) Enjoy!
